A 21-year-old call
centre employee was stabbed to death and her team head injured allegedly by an
ex-friend of hers at New Ashok Nagar in East Delhi on Monday. The accused has
been arrested. The incident took place when Neha Yadav, a resident of Kondli,
was on her way to neighbouring Noida along with team head Gaurav Karodia in his
car around 5 p.m.They were passing through a timber market in Dallupura when
Devender, who was riding a motorcycle, intercepted the vehicle. He forced the
victim out of the car and then allegedly stabbed her several times with a
knife.Gaurav tried to rescue Neha at which Devender attacked and injured him in
the left cheek. Gaurav then ran towards a nearby police picket seeking
assistance. By the time the policemen reached the spot, Neha had collapsed on
the road, bleeding profusely. She was rushed to a hospital where she was
declared dead on arrival.“The accused was arrested and the weapon of offence
has been seized from the spot,” said a police officer.
NEIGHBOURS
Police investigations
revealed that Devender and Neha were neighbours and knew each other since their
childhood. In due course, they become friends. However, Neha’s parents objected
to their relationship as Devender belonged to a different caste. The police
suspect that this irked Devender and he decided to eliminate Neha after he
learnt that she had purportedly become friends with her team head Gaurav. Neha,
whose father Devnath works as a security supervisor, had recently joined a call
centre in Noida where she met her team head Gaurav. The police have registered
a murder case against Devender and collected evidence, including his clothes,
for forensic examination. The accused works as a casual driver.
