The
device was official announced by Sony on 29 August 2012 in Berlin along with the Xperia J and T. The
device is water and dust resistant which is similar to the Xperia go and Xperia
acro S. It is slated for a release during the fourth quarter of 2012.
The
Sony Xperia V sports a 4.3-inch (720 x 1280) display and will run the
Snapdragon S4 MSM8960 chipset (1.5Ghz dual-core and Adreno 225 GPU). It has 1GB
RAM, 8GB internal memory (1.2 GB of firmware, 2 GB of phone memory and 3.7 GB
for media) with microSD memory card support.
The
phone is released with Sony's Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich
integrated with Facebook and the Timescape UI with built in online services
support such as Twitter, YouTube and Picasa. The device's browser supports HTML
and HTML5 and also has stereo FM radio with RDS integrated, PlayStation
Certified which allows users to play PlayStation Suite games, and is connected
to the Sony Entertainment Network, allowing users to access Music & Video
Unlimited. Other than that, the device also has the Walkman music player with a
manual equalizer and is DLNA certified.
The
black version of the Xperia V is unboxed and shows that it comes with the usual
micro USB cable and charger, stereo headset and documentation. The Xperia V is
also compared against other Xperia phones such as the Xperia arc and acro S,
which whilst being smaller phones aren’t that different in size to the Xperia
V. It is a much closer match to the Xperia S that looks near identical in size.
However, the Xperia V is significantly smaller than Samsung’s stable of phones
including the Galaxy S III and Galaxy Nexus and the ginormous Note II.
