It
was interesting and also shocking to notice a Brazilian mobile manufacturing
company came up with a new device named iPhone Neo One, one of the first
thought that popped up in my mind was, what is Apple going to do about it? well
the truth is nothing! because the Brazilian company has acquired the right to
use the brand name few years ago before the Apple did.
Keeping
all the legal actions which Apple might take in future aside and focusing more
on this new handset.The
Gradiente iphone Neo One features a single core 700MHz processor, a 3.7-inch
480 x 320 display and comes running Android 2.3 Gingerbread.Apple does not own the rights to the term
'iphone' in Brazil, a phrase which Gradiente is said to have secured in 2008.
However, the Cupertino firm is expected to
consult with its lawyers over the release. The South American company applied
for the rights to the name 'IPHONE' back in 2000, a term Apple now claims
ownership of in Brazil, Reuters reports. The Gradiente iphone Neo One arrives on the market
with a price tag of 599 Brazilian Reais (£176).Can Apple do something to
keep it off shelf in Brazil? We should notice some developments soon.
