How To Downscale 10.1 Notebook Resolution.

Monday, December 24, 2012

  • Most of 10.1 Notebook comes with screen resolution of 1024x600 pixel.
  • Small screen resolution will not make the users satisfy.
  • I have a secondary notebook which is Creatiiv H-S30 10.1 inch screen.
  • This notebook has maximum resolution screen up to 1024x600.
This screen is printed on 1024x600.
  • When the downscaling support setting is enabled, the maximum resolution can be set up to 1152x864
  • Downscaling means re-sizing a better resolution to fit a smaller screen.
  • That means you will have a large workspace on small screen.
This screen is printed on 1024x768

  • To enable this features, some registry setting tweak is needed.
  1. Click 'start button', type 'regedit' and open 'regedit.exe'
  2. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Video
  3. Press 'ctrl and F' and write down 'Display1_DownScalingSupported', tick 'Match whole strings only', press Enter.
  4. Change the DWORD value of 'Display1_DownScalingSupported' from 0 to 1 and click OK.
  5. reboot your Notebook.
  6. change your resolution by right click your desktop and choose screen resolution
  7. choose your new resolution setting and click OK . DONE:)
