address whenever you want a change. It helps you stay anonymous on the Web, but
isn't a totally comprehensive solution like a VPN or more powerful proxy.
Despite the touted easy
setup, the download takes longer than most because of registration. You have to
give up your e-mail address and then wait for a product key before you can
start using the program. Then, if you want more than a three-day trial, it
costs $29.95. Thankfully, once you make it through the time-consuming setup
process, Easy-Hide-IP delivers dozens of different IP addresses to choose from.
There are several different countries to choose from, too. However, no matter
what region you choose, your surfing will slow down to a crawl. The download
doesn't stop all instances of third-party tracking either.
Though this program
does exactly what it says, you could be disappointed. It hides your IP well
enough, but a dedicated tracker could still hunt down your origin. If it
encrypted traffic like a VPN, then Easy-Hide-IP would be more than worth the
$29.95 download. For now, it's no better than Tor or Web sites that will give
you a free proxy on demand for private surfing.
